Biography
Matteo Brici, known artistically as May Ray, is an artist from Emilia-Romagna, born in May 1997. His pictorial practice began following an early passion for painting, later cultivated through the painting course at the Università Primo Levi in San Giovanni in Persiceto, under the guidance of maestro Maurizio Tangerini.
Alongside scientific studies and the mastery of painting techniques, in 2013 his work "Tre Amici, Notturno in Periferia" was shortlisted among the finalists of the Premio Arte (Cairo Editore), and his first sale was to the director of the same university. Upon completing the course at the age of nineteen, he began his independent artistic production.
In the years that followed, he held two solo exhibitions titled "Dipingere l'Essenza" at the deconsecrated church of Sant'Apollinare (2019) and "Deserto" at the furniture showroom La Casa dei Tuoi Sogni (2022), both in San Giovanni in Persiceto. His work has since been shown and sold at Ravenna Art Gallery, alongside group exhibitions in Milan and Los Angeles from 2022 to the present.
He founded the event organization Piu-Ma, which operated in the province of Bologna for three years, producing festivals centered on the fusion of the arts. He currently works as an artist and holistic practitioner between San Giovanni in Persiceto, Ravenna, and Rimini.
